Tapping and Spinning Explained

Tapping

Thought Field Therapy or TFT Developed by Dr Roger Callahan, author of Tapping the Healer Within If you are feeling a strong craving for a particular food and want to reduce it immediately, this tapping process can knock out these feelings in an instant. It may seem a little strange at first, and you will have to concentrate for a few minutes as you think about the particular food you crave, but it really does work. Thought Field Therapy involves tapping on certain acupuncture points on your body. The code for any craving is stored like a computer programme in your brain. By thinking about the food you are craving while tapping on each point in a particular sequence, you re-set your brain’s operating software to bypass your cravings so you can easily get on with your life.

1. Focus on the food you are craving for a moment. Rate the craving on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest.
2. Now think about the food you have been craving and take two fingers of either hand. Tap about 10 times firmly above on of your eyes.
3. Now tap under the eye.
4. Now tap under the collarbone.
5. Keep thinking about the food you were craving and tap under your armpit.
6. Place your other hand in front of you and tap on the back of it between the knuckles of your ring finger and your little finger. 7. Open your eyes and then close them.
8. Keep tapping, open your eyes and look down to the right and down to the left.
9. Keep tapping and rotate your eyes round 360 degrees anti-clockwise, and now 360 degrees anti-clockwise
10. Still thinking about the food you were craving, hum the first few lines of Happy Birthday.
11. Now count out loud from 1 to 5. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
12. Once again hum the first few lines of Happy Birthday.
13. Repeat the beginning of the sequence. Still thinking about the food you were craving, tap under each eye 10 times.
14. Now tap under the collarbone
15. Now tap under the armpit.

Ok, let’s stop and check. See how your craving is now on a scale of 1 to 10. What number is your craving at now?
If it hasn’t gone yet, simply go back through the entire sequence again until it does.
It may take 2 or 3 times before the craving is properly eliminated, although most people report getting their craving down to a manageable level on their first or second try.
You may even find that is it gone completely.
If it ever comes back, you can repeat this process as often as you like.

Spinning

This amazing technique for changing feelings was developed by the genius creator of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Dr Richard Bandler.
It works on a very simple principle – that all feelings start in one place in the body and move in a particular direction. Through this simple imagination exercise, it becomes easy to reverse the direction of the feeling, reducing and eliminating it.

Step 1 Put your attention in your body.

Step 2 Think about your phobia and notice where the feeling of anxiety/panic starts (often your chest or your tummy).

Step 3 Imagine taking this feeling out of your body and seeing it spin in front of you like a wheel.

Step 4 Now, imagine what colour it is and change the colour.

Step 5 Now, turn the wheel upside down so it's spinning in the opposite direction in front of you and pull it back into you.

Step 6 Continue spinning the feeling in the opposite direction so it moves down through your throat into your chest and tummy.
Step 7 Spin it faster and faster until the feeling begins to reduce and then eventually disappears.
